The Propia team were delighted to be asked to help out with the renovation of a beautiful ground floor maisonette with rear garden in the heart of Wandsworth and the Nightingale Triangle.
The project requirement was to replace the tired and mixed old flooring with new wooden floorboards to match the client’s furnishings, in particular the grand table and benches that are the centre piece of the kitchen/dining room. A whole new kitchen was also requested with the specific requirement of a clean and simple finish.
The flooring used was an engineered floor of White Oak: Brushed and Oiled (sourced from Lionvest Trading). The natural textured matt finish of this flooring gives a satisfingly rustic feel to this urban environment. The job was made all the harder by the (London standard) unlevel sub floor, we tackled this with a floor leveling compound and a lot of elbow grease!
The countryside feel was continued into the kitchen with a soft green finish to the units and a belfast sink. Much time and effort was spent finding a suitable work surface compatible with the style and the client’s budget. We settled upon the amazing solid surface worktops known as Apollo Slab Tech, these can be cut and manufactured like a plank of wood, but with a polished finish similar to that of stone. Even better, because they are solid surface (literally the same composition all the way through) any scratches or marks can just be polished out. Word of warning though, they are really very heavy and a big set of guns are required to move them around!
